The growth of cities and the rapid expansion of
human activities have led to a large increase in
waste production, whether in an urban or rural
setting. Without a policy to protect the environment
and provide a public service of refuse collection,
future human habitats and fragile ecosystems will be
compromised. Refuse can also hinder traffic, produce
disagreeable smells and be a possible source of
serious health and environmental risks, through
infiltration and surface streaming.
SANCO offers a service of refuse collection. A
compactor collects the refuse which is then placed
in dumpsters capable of holding 1 to 20 cubic meters
of refuse. Our dumpsters are metal boxes fitted with
wheels to facilitate their being moved from place to
place. To counter possible stench, powerful
deodorants, in heavily concentrated form which are
not harmful to humans, are sprayed before, during
and after collection. The refuse is then compacted
before discharge in an authorized dump.
Through this service, SANCO helps to protect natural
resources such as water and soils and the quality of
life for Haitians.
